Remember that March was originally the first month of the year. That would make August the sixth month, and it, therefore, was named Sextilis. Not to be outdone by his Grand Uncle Caesar, Agustus Caesar(63 B.C.– A.D. 14) had Sextilis renamed to August. He chose August as it was the month he was elected and gained control of the Roman Empire. Typically thought of as “back to school” time in the United States, the August daily holidays give us many reasons to celebrate.
Take a look at the August wacky holidays designed to help you make memories and build relationships. We hope you’ll learn something new as well! Happy August!!
