Description
As you know many (but not all) of the main characters in fairy tales are children. These characters each go on a quest of some sort, their version of the Hero’s journey. Even children as young as preschool are able to recognize how awesome it is that the Pigs win over the Big, Bad Wolf for example!
Use the Hansel and Gretel Fairy Tale Reader’s Theater Script to celebrate National Tell a Fairy Tale Day, February 26th or as part of your Language Arts program.
Using Readers Theater in your Homeschool is an empowering way to involve children of all ages and reading levels. All you really need are scripts and kids! The rest is easy! You can complete the event in a day or a week, or longer as you see fit.
It is my goal with this Reader’s Theater to spark the hero within, yet be appealing to any age learner. I hope you agree. The scripts in the Happy Hive Homeschooling Reader’s Theater Collection are designed for kids of all ages as they contain both speaking and nonspeaking parts.
Full instructions and ideas for implementation for use in your home (OR CLASSROOM) are included. Tips for non, or struggling readers too!
If you would like to read more about using Reader’s Theater I encourage you to check out this post: USING READER’S THEATER SCRIPTS
The story is a Happy Hive Homeschooling original script, based on the original Fairy Tale Hansel and Gretel.
Each of the 7 parts in the script is designated with a picture, as are the 6 props. – You do not need 7 children to use this script, there are tips inside for adapting to fit your family. Chose any of our scripts!
For the puppets you can choose to have your kids use the “Color your Own ” (black and white) or the full color version. Assemble them using glue, tape and a craft stick or two each depending on the size. Extra large “puppets” usually work best with 2 sticks. They also work GREAT when attached to paper tubes. This way the puppets will stand nicely on the edge of a desk while the script is being read.
Other Fairy Tale Reader’s Theater scripts available include:
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK
THE LITTLE RED HEN
THE THREE BILLY GOATS GRUFF
READER’S THEATER BUNDLE WITH BONUS SCRIPT – LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
The curriculum contains a link to video instruction for assembling the puppets as well as tips and tricks for implementing Reader’s Theater in only 1 week’s time!
