Memorial Day poppy craft and letter writing activity

Another name for Memorial day is Decoration Day – it is a day to remember those who while serving in the United States military. It is observed on the last Monday in May.

This resource includes a poppy craft as well as a letter writing activity.

You receive  a basic outline on writing letters to service men and women, but no information on WHAT organization to send them to. A quick search online and you will find plenty. Research carefully – they each have their own rules about names, addressed envelopes, dates, etc. Some are even looking for cards service-people can send back home. Find what works best for your home/classroom. There are several different writing templates you can use, including some color-your-own pages.

You have many options on your “Poppy Craft” – I have included some samples of what we have done with them. There are color files for quicker – print and go as well as the black and white for color your own options. All sample crafts are created using the color, print and go option.
