The word trivia comes from the Latin word trivialis, which means found everywhere, or commonplace.. Holidays can be started by anyone and it is believed that Trivia Day got its start in 1980 by a fan of Trivia Robert L. Birch. Mr. Birch was the head of Puns Corp. It is unknown what this company does, produce puns perhaps?
