Description
Celebrating Tolkien Reading Day has never been easier with this Google Sheets mystery puzzle and printable activities from Happy Hive Homeschooling!
Watch the 10 interesting facts about JRR Tolkien Video together using thelink in the packet, or your children can watch the video presentation themselves using the Link embedded in the title of the Mystery Picture Activity.
The video is a Happy Hive Homeschooling Original narrated by Mrs. Crabtree.
Your children then use the information to answer 10 True/False questions about Tolkien to magically make the picture appear.
If that’s not enough…Use the included enrichment activities to enhance the experience. Apply your new knowledge of Tolkien and design your own alphabet. (Tolkien created over 5 different languages.) There is a page for Upper Case and Lower Case letters.
Then your children can test their new “language” by writing their name and a few words and/or phrases.
There is also a handout containing one of the Elvish languages created by Tolkien. This is for those looking for a quick activity to accompany the day – Write your name in Elvish. There is no prep, just print and go.
As a creative writing activity, you can use the picture prompt and writing paper. This page can also be used to summarize the 10 facts video.
As a final fun activity Use the Color or black and white Pin Poke Art of a wise wizard! Your children can poke, paint or sew using this pattern from our collection of PIN POKE ART – MARCH HOLIDAYS
I hope this activity is a blessing to your homeschooling journey and your holiday of the day activities.
