The Origin of 33 Flavors Day
You may be more familiar with the topic of today’s holiday if it were called 31 flavors day…. 33 Flavors Day is a holiday of unknown origin but said to honor the famous Ice Cream shop: Baskin Robbins.
Baskin Robbins was formed when two men (they were brothers-in-law) merged their existing ice cream shops into one. Irv Robbins and Burt Baskin formed the famous 31 Flavors – Baskin Robbins in 1953. There are 31 flavors so you can try a different one each day of the month!
March 3rd pays homage to Baskin-Robbins, the iconic ice cream chain that boasts 31 original flavors. The idea behind 33 Flavors Day is to encourage creativity and imagination in the world of ice cream, extending beyond the classic 31 to embrace the limitless possibilities of flavor combinations.
