I pick holidays that lend themselves to kids and families. While you may find holidays like National Whiskey Day (March 27) or 4/20 National Pot Smokers Day online in the “holiday of the day” lists, at Happy Hive Homeschooling I keep it kid-friendly. You are welcome to include holidays from outside the membership into your curriculum. 

I believe the holidays are flexible enough to adapt. It’s one thing to CELEBRATE a holiday, and It’s another to LEARN about a holiday factually. Here at Happy Hive Homeschooling, our resources are educational, and designed to share what a particular holiday means to different people.  I do provide suggested ways to celebrate, but the extent of any celebration lies with you as the primary educator. 

Currently the majority of holidays are either secular or Christian based. I plan to add additional faith-based holidays as the program matures, 

By using multiple holidays a month, your children are exposed to a variety of topics. They don’t know what they want to learn because they don’t know what they don’t know, 😂. 

The content is also delivered in a variety of ways –  hands-on activities, games, crafts, stories, video lessons, worksheets,etc.

This allows children to choose the ones that excite them the most. By offering a range of options, kids can naturally gravitate towards what interests them, whether that’s an artistic craft project, a science experiment, or a history-based story.

Parents are encouraged to attend with their children and enjoy the experience as a family. This provides a foundation for discussion and future learning. Your observation is essential for finding topics you can use to further your child’s education with child-led learning. You can’t do that if you’re chopping veggies for dinner in another room. 

Because Mrs. Crabtree facilitates instruction, your kids are excited for someone “new” and not just learning from *mom* (Sorry Moms!)

While online isn’t my preferred method of instruction (nothing beats in-person events) I will be able to customize and engage a variety of ages as I teach. 

The more classes your kids can attend the more I will get to know them and their learning preferences, making adapting flow naturally. 

Office Hours is an informal group coaching program. You absolutely can get personalized guidance. Submit questions before office hours or just “raise your hand” during the live session.  You are also welcome to submit questions or anything that feels “sticky” using the app VOXER. 

Inside the Hub there is a video walkthrough of what’s inside. I recommend setting aside a few minutes every day to “play” in the hub yourself and get familiar with where everything is. 

Confidence comes in time as you use the resources, ask questions and attend live workshops and challenges. While you’re working on building your confidence, you can borrow mine. I believe 100% in your ability to use these holiday resources as foundational child-led learning activities. 

I host workshops there occasionally, and free Q & A coaching sessions monthly. I held the “Revive your Hive” challenge in Spring of 2024 and plan to host it again in 2025. 

With the addition of the membership, events are now planned quarterly (4 times a year).

All the resources inside the membership are created with academic rigor. They are not designed to address specific standards, although some do. Because the Holiday of the Day activities will supplement your current curriculum, there isn’t a need to address specific standards. 

One of my core values regarding homeschooling is that you are running a school. Homeschooling is your job and should be treated as such. With this in mind, record-keeping is encouraged and supported. My workshop HOW DO I KNOW MY CHILD IS LEARNING is available on demand in the membership. 

I’ll also be sharing strategies during office hours, and inside the facebook group.
