But when the time comes to split the catch, the lion claims the entire reward—first because he is king, then because of his strength, and finally because he dares anyone to challenge him. The moral? Might makes right… or at least, that’s how the lion sees it.\n\n\n\nOver time, the phrase “lion’s share” came to represent the biggest or most desirable portion, often taken (not earned) by those with the most power or influence. That idea—fairness vs. entitlement—is a rich topic for homeschool exploration.\n\n\n\nThis clever holiday opens up fun and meaningful discussions across language arts, math, ethics, and social studies. Here are ideas to get your learners engaged:\n\n\n\n1.
