Their legacy of valor and service remains an integral part of American history. \n\n\n\nBuffalo Soldiers Day celebrates the significant contributions and sacrifices made by African American soldiers who served on the western frontier after the Civil War. \n\n\n\nThe History and Significance of Buffalo Soldiers Day\n\n\n\nThe term “Buffalo Soldiers” was originally used by Native American tribes to describe African American troops who served in the western frontier. These soldiers were assigned to various units, including the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments and the 24th and 25th Infantry Regiments, between 1866 and 1896. \n\n\n\nDespite facing discrimination and prejudice, Buffalo Soldiers displayed unparalleled bravery and dedication to duty.  They served as trailblazers in the pursuit of equality within the U.S. military. Buffalo Soldiers Day recognizes the indomitable spirit of these soldiers.
