When the straight pin was invented, that too was used to hold papers together, even though that was not the pin’s intended use. \n\n\n\nThe first paper clip in the office supply category was designed to hold a ticket to fabric it was invented by Samuel B. Fay in 1867. \n\n\n\nJohan Vaaler, a Norwegian inventor invented the paper clip in 1899. He received a patent for his design from Germany in 1899, as Norway had no patent laws at that time. His clip was designed to hold paper. \n\n\n\nIn 1899 the Gem Manufacturing company in England designed the double oval-shaped, standard paper clip we still use today. This paper clip was never patented. \n\n\n\nYou can celebrate NATIONAL PAPERCLIP DAY by: \n\n\n\n\nMake Paper Clip Book Marks\n\n\n\n\n\n30 WAYS TO HAVE FUN WITH PAPER CLIPS ( https://rockyourhomeschool.net/fun-with-paperclips/ )\n\n\n\n\n\nIf your children are old enough – Watch the Documentary PAPER CLIPS  It’s about a middle school in Tennessee that collects 6 million paperclips as a project to represent the lives lost in the Holocaust.  They chose paper clips because, during World War II, Norwegians wore paper clips as a form of protest.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan’t celebrate this year – Mark your calendar & save this holiday for next year!\n\n\n\nYou can also pin the image below to your Pinterest boards to save this fantastic holiday!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReturn to main calendar HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWant Ideas for celebrating in your inbox every day?
