DESCRIPTION:This post, Memorial Day, may contain affiliate links, which means Happy Hive Homeschooling may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link. Please see our full disclosure for further information.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMemorial Day is a day of remembrance. We are called to remember the Men and Women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is only “recently” (1971) that Memorial Day was made a federal holiday in the United States. \n\n\n\nOriginally, Memorial Day was called Decoration Day. \n\n\n\nAt first, the day was to honor those lost in the Civil War. \n\n\n\nNow that the United States (and many other countries) have gone through 2 World Wars, the Vietnam War, and the Korean War, we use Memorial Day. Memorial Day is for ALL the fallen of war, regardless of which war.\n\n\n\nYou can Celebrate Memorial Day By: \n\n\n\n\nDisplay the flag\n\n\n\nVisit the grave sites of your loved ones, military or not! \n\n\n\nVisit local Veteran’s homes or Hospitals – deliver your letters! \n\n\n\nPlan to attend a local Parade or picnic\n\n\n\nResearch and learn more about the different war memorials. \n\n\n\nPin on your poppy\n\n\n\nJoin the nation at 3:00 local time in the national moment of remembrance (moment of silence) \n\n\n\n\nWriting a Letter to servicemen and women is also a great activity for Memorial Day. Happy Hive Homeschooling has a free-BEE designed to help you! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan’t celebrate this year – Mark your calendar & save this holiday for next year!\n\n\n\nYou can also pin the image below to your Pinterest boards to save this fantastic holiday!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
