If the conditions aren’t just right, kids quickly learn that nature doesn’t always cooperate on demand. That opens the door to observation, problem-solving, and creative alternatives.\n\n\n\nMake Your Own Rainbow Outside\n\n\n\nIf it’s sunny, you can try to create your own rainbow.\n\n\n\n• Grab a garden hose and stand with the sun behind you, your shadow should be in front of you• Use a nozzle set to mist or fine spray, or gently place your thumb over the opening• Turn the water on slowly and let it spray into the air• Slowly turn your body and watch for a rainbow to appear in the water droplets\n\n\n\nIt may take a few tries, and that’s okay.
