In 1912, the Oreo was first sold by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco). When it was first introduced it was called the Oreo Biscuit. The name was changed to the Oreo Sandwich, the Oreo Creme Sandwich, and finally, The Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie.\n\n\n\nThe classic combination of two chocolate-flavored wafers with a sweet cream filling soon became a beloved snack, finding its place in lunchboxes, cookie jars, and dessert tables across the globe.\n\n\n\nOreo cookies have not only stood the test of time but have also evolved to include a wide array of flavors, limited editions, and even creative collaborations. From the original design to Double Stuf, Golden Oreos, and various themed versions, Oreo cookies continue to capture the hearts and taste buds of cookie enthusiasts young and old.\n\n\n\nIt is interesting to note, that the Oreo was not the first round, chocolate creme-filled cookie on the market, but it currently is the best-selling. About 34 billion are sold each year.\n\n\n\nFun Facts about Oreo Cookies:\n\n\n\n\nTwist and Lick Tradition: The classic way to enjoy an Oreo is to twist it open, lick the creamy filling, and then dunk the wafers in milk.
