Use one that has been recorded in a book, or make up your own.\n\n\n\nMany Children’s stories are lumped into the category “Fairy Tales” without a thought to their proper classification. You may have grown up thinking one of your favorites was a fairy tale, and that’s ok. This is likely because of books published with MANY WORKS in them – a “Collection of Fairy Tales” for example made its way onto your bookshelf. These are WONDERFUL books and make great gifts! \n\n\n\nSome of the most well-known and Cherished fairy tales include:\n\n\n\n\nCinderella\n\n\n\nThe Three Little Pigs\n\n\n\nPuss in Boots\n\n\n\nBeauty and the Beast\n\n\n\nGoldilocks and the Three Bears\n\n\n\nSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs\n\n\n\nLittle Red Riding Hood\n\n\n\nSleeping Beauty\n\n\n\nJack and the Beanstalk\n\n\n\nRapunzel\n\n\n\nHansel and Gretel\n\n\n\nRumpelstiltskin\n\n\n\n\nThere are 6 types of TRADITIONAL LITERATURE: Folktales, Fairy Tales, Fables, Myths, Legends, and Tall Tales\n\n\n\nIt can be confusing because Fairy Tales, Fables, Myths, Legends, and Tall Tales are all FOLKTALES. Folktale is the big category and everything else falls under it as a sub-category.\n\n\n\nThat’s because all the other stories can be told as Folktales, as stories passed down over time. Many Folktales do not have a known author.\n\n\n\nHow to Celebrate Tell a Fairy Tale Day\n\n\n\nRegardless of the actual classification of your favorite “fairy tale” – the important thing about celebrating Tell a Fairy Tale Day is sharing stories!\n\n\n\n\nStorybook Dress-Up: Encourage kids to dress up as their favorite fairy tale characters. Whether it’s donning a crown as a princess or crafting a makeshift knight’s armor, let their imaginations run wild.\n\n\n\nCreate a Fairy Tale: Invite kids to create their own fairy tale. Provide prompts or let them invent characters, settings, and magical elements, fostering creativity and storytelling skills.\n\n\n\nStory Circle Time: Arrange a story circle where each child contributes a sentence or two to create a collaborative fairy tale. This activity encourages teamwork and sparks collective creativity.\n\n\n\nIllustrate Fairy Tales: Engage kids in illustrating their favorite fairy tales.
